On Saturday, March 2, Skydog Gypsy will reunite in Atlanta after more than a decade apart. The funk-rock fusion quartet composed of Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin alongside guitarist Dean Tovey, bassist Aaron Goldberg and keys operator Josh Becker has not taken the stage since 2012, and rejoins this weekend to remember the dearly departed Edmund “Eddie” Pharo.

Skydog Gypsy formed in 1999 and rose to prominence in the jamtronica scene through its decade-long run before parting ways to pursue individual projects, with Aucoin joining the Biscuits in 2005. Originally based in Columbus, Ga., the band’s members are now dispersed across Colorado, Georgia and Alabama. Matt Rand, a close companion of Pharo’s, organized this home-state reunion tribute; on the occasion, Rand shares, “Skydog [Gypsy] wasn’t just a band; it was a cornerstone of our scene, back long before Allen joined The Biscuits. Eddie, myself and many others joining us on Mar. 2 started going to their shows in Athens, then eventually going on the road with them all the way out to Colorado. They hold a special place in our hearts, and I can’t think of a better way to honor Eddie’s memory.”

The reunion will take place at Atlanta’s Aisle 5 at 8:00 p.m. Preceding the band’s long-awaited return, GLYFIKS–who has collaborated with Aucoin in DrFameus–will deliver a DJ set. Proceeds from the show, and those from sales of a limited edition commemorative poster, will go to support Pharo’s family. Tickets are available now at seetickets.us.
