Dave Matthews Band continued their summer tour on Wednesday, stopping by Northwell Health at Jones Beach in Wantagh, N.Y. The band presented an 18-track main frame, flushed with fan favorites, bust-outs, and an unexpected guest sit-in. Warren Haynes, who had previously surprised fans at the band’s July 18 gig in Holmdel, N.J., and returned to the stage with Matthews and company once again, helping out on a cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Melissa,” dusted off for the first time since 2017 and more.

The Wednesday night get-down commenced with first-time opener “Virginia in the Rain,” flanked by an extended outro courtesy of Carter Beauford. “Seven” arrived next, ending a 78-show gap since it was last played. The band picked up “Hello Again,” “Walk Around The Moon,” and “Looking for a Vein” before turning their attention to “You Might Die Trying.” Next, “Big Eyed Fish” merged into “Lie in Our Graves,” “Cha Cha” followed before the band picked up an ensuing take on “The Best of What’s Around.”

The main frame continued with “American Baby Intro,” which made way for “Break Free” and a take on the Paul Simon original “Late in the Evening.” After another pair of DMB-written numbers, the group welcomed their guest to the stage. Haynes beckoned to his Allman roots with a take on the Eat a Peach classic, “Melissa.” Matthews took the initial lyrical lead during the cover, while Haynes provided guitar support. Then, Haynes sang some lines that added to the delivery’s collaborative nature, ending a 423-show gap for DMB.

Matthews and Haynes ripped through Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer” next. Haynes initiated the number, reprising the iconic guitar riffs, and eventually, the two leading men tossed the historic lines back and forth. For the set’s final song, Haynes added to “Two Step,” which clocked in at over 15 minutes and showcased one of the best jams of the night. After, just the members of DMB returned for their encore, comprised of “The Ocean and the Butterfly,” into “So Damn Lucky” to cap the night.

After Wednesday night’s concert, Dave Matthews Band will continue their summer tour tonight, Friday, July 21, at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, N.J. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased here
