Indie-dream pop troupe Beach Fossils announced yesterday they will be opening for Post Malone on his 2023 U.S. If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying summer tour. The unlikely but intriguing pair is set to hit 26 stops, with Beach Fossils supporting the run from start to finish.

Although the Post Malone-Beach Fossils match may come out of the blue for some, the artists seem to have been connected for a bit as they were together in Brooklyn, N.Y. – Beach Fossils’ home turf – in 2020, where they enjoyed a night out singing karaoke.

The tour kicks off in just two days in Noblesville, Ind., and is set to span major cities around the country in celebration of Post Malone’s fifth and 17-track record, AUSTIN, which will be released in the midst of the run on July 28. Fittingly, Beach Fossils released their LP Bunny in June, marking the band’s first new album in six years.

Beach Fossils announced the tour excitedly on Instagram, writing, “Hitting the road with our number one homie @postmalone this summer.”

Post Malone’s new eponymous album marks high anticipation for the pop-hip/hop artist. “This whole ordeal has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on. I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment. Thank y’all so much for your patience, and thank you for being there with me in my hardest times,” Post Malone wrote on Instagram.

Bubbly but dreamlike album singles “Mourning” and “Chemical” were released in April and May. Post Malone teased a 30-second snippet of “Something Real” from AUSTIN, a heavier choir-driven track, in late June on Twitter.
