Nolafunk has shared its updated artist lineup for the 10th annual Jazz Fest concert series, which will take place from April 28 through May 7 in New Orleans. For the milestone event, Nolafunk will welcome a mix of local legends and national acts to stages across The Crescent City. New additions to the already-stacked roster include George Porter Jr., Anders Osborne, Jennifer Hartswick and Duane Betts.
Porter Jr. will help kick off the series on April 28. The legendary musician will take the stage at Republic NOLA, joining Daniel Donato’s Cosmic NOLA lineup as a special guest alongside Preservation Hall Band’s Branden Lewis and Doom Flamingo’s Kanika Moore.
On April 29, Osborne and Hartswick will hop on the bill for Andy Frasco’s Big Night Out In The Big Easy at Republic NOLA. The eclectic event will feature music from Frasco & The U.N., as well as the first-ever live segment of Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast. Meanwhile, Betts will help keep the night moving over at The Civic, joining the previously announced North Mississippi Allstars, Tab Benoit and Samantha Fish, for an evening of bluegrass music.
On May 4, Anders Osborne will make his second Nolafunk appearance at the highly-anticipated Dead Feat set at Republic NOLA. The event– which has become a post-Jazz Fest staple– will also include previously announced appearances from Jackie Greene, Jason Crosby and Chad Cromwell, along with Fred Tackett and Kenny Gradney of Little Feat. Together, the musicians will dig deep into the songbooks of the Grateful Dead, Little Feat and more.
Also on May 4, Howlin’ Wolf will welcome previously announced artists Fish and Jesse Dayton, as well as The Rumble and Eric Johanson. Then, on May 5, Earth Wind and Fire will join forces with Oteil Burbridge, Eric Krasno, Nigel Hall, Nate Werth, Dumpstaphunk Horns, Skerik and more for an event at Republic NOLA.
Finally, on May 6 and 7, Nolafunk will close out the last nights of Jazz Fest with back-to-back Voodoo Dead sets at the Republic NOLA. Steve Kimock, Porter Jr., Jackie Greene, Al Schnier and John Kimock will join forces to combine the Grateful Dead’s live catalog with iconic New Orleans tunes. In addition, Bonerama’s Papa Mali & Mark are slated to appear as special guests on May 6.
