Today, Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) released a new original song titled “Wings Of Time,” which was written for the upcoming film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. In an unfortunate unrelated twist of fate, the artist known for his unmatched creative output and prolific catalog also shared with fans that he fractured his hip after running attempting to run a marathon on what already was an existing stress fracture.

“Being asked to do a track for the D&D soundtrack seemed like an unmissable opportunity to indulge in my long-time love of fantasy prog rock,” said Parker in a press release. “I recruited my good friend Nicholas Allbrook, who is the person I know appreciates this subject matter the most. We rented a villa in Spain, that kind of felt like a castle, for two nights whilst on tour for Primavera. That location got us in the right frame of mind and it went from there. We stayed up late coming up with weird ideas and song lyrics.”

The song is a driving score that evokes images of a stampede of horses. It’s relatively muted compared to Tame Impala’s overall discography, but it leaves ample space for imagination, which is deeply fitting considering the purpose for which it was created.

In the upcoming film, which taps the global phenomenon role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, a charming thief and a crew of unlikely adventurer friends attempt to get a lost relic through a heist, but this goes awry when they run into the wrong people. The movie was directed, written, and executive produced by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley; will star Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, and Daisy Head; and will release on March 31.

In regards to the things that went awry for Parker, the musician said, “Fractured my hip. Tried to run a half marathon on what turned out to be an existing stress fracture. Whoops. Made it to within 1km of the finish line. That’s life I guess. All shows in Mexico and South America going ahead as planned I’m not quitting on you guys”

Tame Impala are set to perform tonight with the first of two shows in Mexico City. They’ll then head to South America for appearances at festivals in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, and Brazil.
