Last night, Connecticut’s Goose performed the second of five nights of their debut headlining run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. The show highlighted the band’s newer material with three songs that debuted in 2022 in the first set and to brand new number titled “Not Alone” during the second set reinforcing the quintet’s tailormade residency.
The band kicked off the performance with “Jive I” and continued with originals despite their beloved improvisational interpretations across genres, hitting “Atlas Dogs,” “California Magic,” and “Borne,” which picked up speed and was presented with a faster tempo to match the crowd’s excitement. Next came “The Old Man’s Boat” and “Rockdale,” which closed the frame.
The second set began with a funk-fueled 25-minute”Tumble,” which included teases of the iconic and seminal 1974 tune “Pick Up The Pieces” by Average White Band from Rick Mitarotonda. The band then took a breath and exhaled in the form of the debut of the introspective and buoyant “Not Alone.” Following the debut, Goose paired “Rosewood Heart” with Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman.” The final song of the set was a 22-minute performance of their song “Madhuvan” which included sprinklings of “Loose Ends” within it. With two shows behind them, Goose stepped back onstage for an encore of their fan-favorite song “Turned Clouds.”
Goose will perform the third or middle of their five-night residency at The Capitol Theatre tonight. Watch a pro-shot video of the performance below.
