Last night, the Disco Biscuits kicked off their final shows of 2022 at the Riveria Theatre in Chicago. The first evening of three planned at the storied venue set for the Windy City proved the band needed no time to warm up for the run, with extended jams and pristine pairings.
The Disco Biscuits opened up their New Year’s stint with “Who’s In Charge?” > “Voices Insane.” From there, they blew through “Wet,” a cut from their 2006 LP The Wind at Four to Fly. Next came “Aceetobee” > “Shocked!” before closing the set with a jam of “Caterpillar,” which flowed into “Window In The Rain” back into “Caterpillar.”
The second frame was a non-stop jam starting with “I-Man.” The crowd was then pulled in via their 2022 release “The Wormhole,” which led to an inverted version of “And The Ladies Were The Rest Of The Night.” The trip continued as they ushered in “Cyclone,” which melded into the aptly named set closer “To Be Continued.”
With sweat dripping down the walls and a brief reprieve, the group returned from their encore with a performance of “Therapy,” which was unfinished but instead was aptly transformed into a return and set-closing rendition of “I-Man.”
The Disco Biscuits will return to the Riviera Theatre for the second performance of their New Year’s Run tonight.
