Last night, Guster frontman Ryan Miller celebrated his 50th birthday during his band’s concert at Washington, D.C.’s Lincoln Theatre.

During the show, the band sold tongue-in-cheek shirts that read “I Had a Great Time at Ryan Miller’s 50th Birthday Party,” presented him with a cake, and showed a special mock video that focused on a range of celebrities wishing him a happy birthday.

During the show, Guster moved through fan favorites showcasing their friendship and deeply developed on-stage chemistry, which has been in action since Miller was 18 years old. For the encore, Guster ran through four of Miller’s favorite covers to sing: Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” Violent Femmes’ “Blister in the Sun,” the standard “Moon River,” and Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).”

The renditions of Violent Femmes’ “Blister in the Sun” and Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody),” Guster had not performed the covers since 2019.

Guster will return to the Lincoln Theatre this evening.
