Today, Denver-bred supergroup BTTRFLY Quintet announced their debut album Coast will arrive on Friday, Nov. 4. In conjunction with the album announcement, the futuristic soul-jazz fusion collective – comprised of producer and saxophonist Dominc Lalli (Big Gigantic), Borahm Lee (Break Science/ Pretty Lights), bassist Hunter Roberts (Break Science), and Grammy-nominated trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom (Lettuce) and Grammy-nominated percussionist Adam Deitch (Lettuce) – released the project’s title track.

BTTRFLY Quintet came together when during the pandemic and started to emerge from their proverbial chrysalis by performing for 37 people in a COVID-19-restricted Cervantes Ballroom. Since then, they’ve performed at Brainquility Festival in Florida and at Denver’s Meow Wolf. Through their performances, the quintet showcases their shared musical languages, individual inclinations from their time in isolation and a new unique sonic identity through their collaboration.

On the single “Coast,” they further imprint their new and shared thumbprint rich and warm with jazz, soul and raw improvisational runs. The sound rides a unicycle down the line operating the warm, classic soul of the ’70s and the innovative familiarity with contemporary technology and music that have furthered their individual groups. On the track, they playfully interact through horn lines, harmony and immersive danceable funk.

BTTRFLY Quintet will share their elegant musical colors at their Coast album release party on Friday, Nov. 4, at Denver’s Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox. Find tickets here.
