Last night, Bobby Weir returned to the stage post-summer tour 2022, which concluded with a two-night run at New York’s Citi Field on July 16, alongside his Dead & Company bandmate John Mayer for the latter’s Rise For The River – A Benefit For The Beautiful Park Country event at Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, Mont. The show consisted of a single-set performance of Grateful Dead favorites, with Weir and Mayer sharing lyrics and taking solos throughout the two-hour concert in Big Sky Country.

“Friend of the Devil” kicked off the night with Weir and Mayer trading lead on the fan favorite, as they delivered the impeccable lyrics penned by Robert Hunter. To follow the night’s opening number, Mayer took the lead on “Bertha” before Weir responded with “Loser.” They continued with “Brown Eyed Women” which saw Mayer bust through the sharp lyrics before the two musicians worked through a segued pairing of “Cassidy” into “Birdsong,” together.

To follow the flow of previous numbers, the duo dug into “Uncle John’s Band” and a high energy “Jackstraw.” The single-set performance continued with “Deal” before Mayer took the lead on an illustrious “Lady With a Fan” that was capped with “Terrapin Station” sung by Weir. To follow the classic segued pairing, the performers landed on “Eyes of the World,” which ran into “Not Fadeaway” to send off the night.

Following last night’s event, the Rise For The River benefit will continue with an Aug.14 performance featuring comedian Dave Chappelle performing standup alongside Mayer, who is slated to share the bill with the entertainment icon. Then, on Aug. 21, as the final live performance of Rise For The River, Mayer will play a solo gig with support from The Last Revel. For additional information, visit johnmayer.com
