Last night, Widespread Panic returned to New York’s Upper West Side to take the stage once more at the breathtaking Beacon Theatre. The band continued their five-night run, initially slated to take place in mid-September 2021. The Saturday night affair saw the Georgia natives perform a selection of fan favorites and covers in addition to a bust-out of the “Time Waits” during the night’s encore.  

Widespread Panic’s concert got underway with “Pigeons” before moving into a cover of the David Bromberg Band’s “Sharon.” Next, the ensemble moved through a take on Junior Kimbrough’s “Junior” before landing on 2008’s “Up All Night” off Free Somehow. The first set continued with 1999’s “Christmas Katie,” which bled into “Radio Child,” which included a taste of Taking Heads’ “Stay Up Late.” 

The band’s first set carried on with “Gloria” before they delivered a pairing of “Greta” into the Grateful Dead’s early track “Cream Puff War.” After a break from the stage, Widespread Panic returned for their second set, which began with “Flicker” before moving into a pairing of “Tall Boy and “Fishwater.” The segued selection of songs continued with “A of D,” “Driving Song,” “Machine,” “Barstools and Dreamers,” “Zambi Jam” before a return to “Driving Song” and eventually “Happy Child” to cap the epic portion of the second set. 

 For the remaining songs, Widespread Panic covered The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and Jerry Joesph’s “Climb to Safety.” Following the second set, the band moved into their encores, which began with a bust out of “Time Waits,” last performed in 2017. Then, they picked up with “Travelin’ Man” and ended the night with “The Waker.” 

Following last night’s performance, Widespread Panic will continue their run at the Beacon Theatre tonight before capping their run on Monday with their final stand at the New York venue. Tickets for tonight’s show remain and can be purchased here.
