Today, Marcus King has debuted a new single, “Blood On The Tracks,” off his forthcoming solo album, Young Blood, due out on Aug. 26 via Rick Rubin’s American Records/ Republic Records. In addition, the musician has also released an official music video for the track, which was filmed at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville, Tenn.

The new release is the lead single off King’s upcoming record and was co-written by The Black Key’s Auerback and celebrated songwriter Desmond Child (Alice Cooper, Joan Jett and Aerosmith). The new number hosts gritty guitar riffs, a swampy undertone and plenty of rock flavor.

King shared some thoughts about working with Child. He said, “‘Blood on the Tracks’ was the first song we wrote for the record, it was also my first time meeting Desmond Child. He’s 100% unapologetically himself at all times, and that charmed me immediately. I really enjoyed working with Dan and Desmond on this tune, they both have such an acute sensibility for a “hook” it is scary!”

The artist concluded, “The song essentially tells the story of moving forward or being taken down by the trouble you are facing – catching the train or the bloodier alternative. Every writing session for this record started with a conversation, an opportunity for my collaborators to take a peek inside my soul and the pain I was carrying around.”

The music video for “Blood On The Tracks” is available to stream on YouTube now and features acclaimed musicians Chris St. Hilaire on drums and Nick Movshon on bass. Watch King’s latest music video below.
