On July 7, Fotografiska New York will host the first night of its inaugural Unfiltered Jazz Festival. The evening will include the record release for keyboardist and composer Erik Deutsch’s eighth album La Nuit Blanche. In addition, night one of the Unfiltered Jazz Festival will also feature a performance by the Stuart Bogie Quartet.

The Unfiltered Jazz Festival features five nights of intimate live music performances spread across the month of July. The first night will begin with a set of jams led by Bogie and his latest improvisational group: Miles Francis (drums), Spencer Zahn (bass) and Adelyn Strei (clarinet, alto saxophone, guitar). The night will mark Bogie’s return to Fotografiska following his 2021 residency.

Following the first set of music, Deutsch will celebrate his latest album release alongside his band: Avi Bortnick (guitar), Freddy Cash (bass), Brian Drye (trombone), Tony Mason (drums) and Mike McGinnis (reeds). The album’s title, La Nuit Blanche, translates to white night, an expression that the artist associates with an all-nighter or the night that ends in daylight.

After the opening night of the Unfiltered Jazz Festival, the second night will occur a week later on July 14, and will include an evening with the Jennifer Hartwick Quartet. Hartswick will play with Joe Davidian (piano), Dezron Douglas (bass) and Conor Elmes (drums).

On night three, July 20, attendees can expect music from the Jeff Beale Trio, featuring Steve Cardenas and John Patitucci. Then on July 21, Brandee Younger and Joel Ross will offer some expressive musical interpretations.

Finally, on July 22, members of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Premik Russell Tubbs (woodwinds), alongside Vin Scialla (drums/percussion), Anupam Shobhakar (double-neck fretless guitar), Neel Murgai (sitar), Joe Deninzon (violin), Dan Asher (bass), and special guests, will perform a tribute to guitar icon John McLaughlin.
