On Sunday night, The Black Crowes were joined by Kevn Kinney of Drivin’ N Cryin’, Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr and Rick Richards from The Georgia Satellites during the ensemble’s encore performance of The Velvet Underground’s “Rock & Roll” at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Ga.

The single-set performance got underway in the same fashion as The Black Crowes’ previous tour stops, with a complete showcase of their 1990 debut studio album, Shake Your Money Maker. First, the band worked through the tracking list, beginning with the opening number, “Twice as Hard,” unleashing each song in the order it appeared on the album.

They moved into a handful of fan favorites and deep cuts during the latter half of the Peach state concert, beginning with 1992’s “My Morning Song,” a beloved number off The Southern Harmony and Musical Champion. Then, The Black Crowes surprised fans by performing another song off the same album, a busted-out “Bad Luck Blue Eyes,” according to Setlist.FM was last performed on August 4, 2013.

The set continued with a cover of The Temptations’ classic “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” which appeared on the band’s EP, 1972. Then, The Black Crowes performed “Wiser Time” before returning to The Southern Harmony and Musical Champion on set enders, “Thorn in My Pride” and “Remedy.” Following a 16-song single-set performance, Chris Robinson introduced the night’s guests, Kinney, Starr and Richards; he remarked, “We’re gonna do this Velvet Underground song that says it all,” before launching into “Rock & Roll.”
