Last night, legendary icon and multi-Grammy award winner Taj Mahal celebrated his 80th birthday with a 90-minute conversation and performance at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles.

Hosted by Scott Goldman, the appearance detailed Mahal’s career’s worth of illustrious, multi-genre contributions to musical history and his newly released album, the critically acclaimed Get On Board, featuring former Rising Sons bandmate Ry Cooder.

Interspersed between his numerous colorful anecdotes, the venerated and ebullient bluesman performed portions of many of his better-known classics, including “Fishin’ Blues,” “Queen Bee” and “Corinna.”  The event, presented by Iron Mountain Entertainment, was an installment of the Museum’s ongoing Living History Live series.
