Today, LeAnn Rimes has released a new track, “the only” off her forthcoming LP, god’s work, due out on Sept. 16 via Thirsty Tiger/The Orchard. The latest soulful tune is a genre-bending ode to its contributors and features Ziggy Marley, Ben Harper and Ledisi. In addition to new music, Rimes has also dropped dates for the second leg of her upcoming tour, “the story… so far.”

“the only” was written and produced by Rimes and her longtime collaborator and close friend, Darrell Brown. The track blends Rimes’ Americana-pop lean with a healthy dose of reggae coolness due impart of Marley’s signature vocals, which he lends on the ditty. Rimes’ latest release exuded mellow island vibes and is a far cry from her past, which can be closely attributed to contemporary-Christian and pop-focused.

“It is an honor to have such a unique and diverse group of artists joining me on this song. Artists of like mind and heart that are also spreading a message of love in the world,” Rimes shared. “‘the only’ really is all about community and connection, so I felt inspired to create the track in community with those I deeply admire and respect.”

The second leg of Rimes’ forthcoming tour supports the new album and the artist’s 25th music anniversary. The newly added dates will see the artist on the road from late May through mid-September and include stops from coast to coast.
