On Sunday, The Black Crowes took the stage during the final day of Stagecoach at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. The band performed an eight-song set with Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr, who sat in for Isaiah Mitchell, who is currently touring with Earthless.

Fans might recall that Chris Robinson, the lead singer of The Black Crowes, famously named Starr’s band Blackberry Smoke in the early 2000s. Making the Stagecoach gig a fun-fueled coming together for old friends.

The Black Crowes kicked off their Stagecoach gig with guitar epic “Twice As Hard,” led by Starr. Next, the band delivered fan-favorite “Sting Me” off their 1992 LP, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, before breaking into “Jealous Again.”

Next up, The Black Crowes delivered 1999’s “Kickin’ My Heart Around” ahead of the twangy ballad “Wiser Time.” Then, the band blasted to 2001 with “Soul Singing” before returning to Shake Your Money Maker with “She Talks To Angels” and “Stare It Cold.”

The ensemble played 1992’s “Thorn in My Pride,” which came before the band’s Stagecoach closer, a take on Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handel.” Following their desert stand, The Black Crowes will travel to The Big Easy to perform at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this Friday, May 6.
