In celebration of Jazz Fest and New Orleans’ culture and heritage, Relix and Fandiem have joined hands to give away a D’Angelico Premier DC XT guitar signed by artists participating in the Relix Presents Musical Conversations event at the Toulouse Theatre on May 2 through 4.
Participating artists include Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Big Freedia, Charlie Gabriel, Ben Jaffe, Joshua Johnson, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, DJ Soul Sister, and Joshua Starkman.
During the Relix Presents Musical Conversations event leading up to the second week of Jazz Fest, Relix will celebrate and meditate on the rich musical history of New Orleans and the future of the deeply revered sound with a wide array of guests: On Monday, they’ll welcome WWOZ programmer DJ Soul Sister, Big Freedia and Tank and the Bangas–who will explore individual influences of New Orleans music, culture, and heritage and the return of live music to the Crescent City.
On Tuesday, Preservation Hall creative director Ben Jaffe, who helped revitalize Toulouse Theatre after the COVID-19 pandemic, guitarist Joshua Starkman and clarinetist Charlie Gabriel will converse and perform a mix of original music and New Orleans jazz standards. Finally, on Wednesday, Ben Ellman, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, and their bandmates from Galactic will talk about their venue, Tipitina’s, which will be followed by a rare performance by Ellman, Mercurio, and Moore.
During the event, guests will be able to sample a new range of premium, ready-to-serve cocktails by Batch & Bottle Cocktails and have the opportunity to signup for a chance to win an AT-LP60X turntable from Audio-Technica.
A portion of proceeds and an on-site auction will benefit Robe Backstage, a non-profit created to help support lighting professionals and technicians facing financial challenges.
