Tedeschi Trucks Band have announced the highly anticipated release of their fifth studio project; I Am The Moon, the first of four albums will be available on June 3. The forthcoming project features four staggered LP release dates, each coupled with an immersive visual companion video that will drop three days before the album’s scheduled publication date.

Inspired by a mythic Persian tale of star-crossed lovers and fueled by the emotions created by the global pandemic, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi react with thoughtful lyrics and masterful instrumentation on the forthcoming studio albums.

After the release of I Am The Moon on June 3, Tedeschi Trucks Band will debut Ascension on July 1, The Fall on July 29, and finally, Farewell, will drop on August 26. In total, the band will release over two hours of new music.

The aforementioned films will combine studio and live performance footage with expert photography techniques, adding a layer of refined visual splendor that illuminates the music’s kaleidoscope-like textures to the listening experience. The corresponding visual footage will come out three days prior to each of the albums’ scheduled release dates. Tedeschi Trucks Band will debut these films on their YouTube Channel, allowing fans to digest each album in its entirety as a community.

According to Trucks, the idea behind the project came “when we started thinking of records we love.” The duo cites The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 1967 LP, Axis: Bold as Love as inspiration, “It’s 36 minutes long. That’s the way to digest a record.”

In addition to their latest announcements, Tedeschi Trucks Band will hit the road in late June for their Wheels of Soul Tour. The extensive run of dates will see its first stop in Jacksonville, Fla., on June 24, followed by 33 shows which will take the band from coast to coast. Read about their latest tour additions here
