Beloved American animated sitcom South Park, has been on the air for 25 years, and to celebrate its silver jubilee the show and Comedy Central plan to put on a celebratory concert at the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. on Aug. 10. The celebration will feature bands Primus and Ween along with South Park‘s co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

“We’re so excited to go home and play at Red Rocks, a place that’s been known for hosting the most legendary Artists and Musicians. Until now,” the duo shared in a press release.

Since South Park‘s debut on Aug. 13, 1997, fans have been exposed to vulgarity, absurdity, political commentary, doses of self-reflection, a whole lot of laughter and also, music. Over the years Parker and Stone curated many unforgettable songs including, “Kyle’s Mom Is A Big Fat Bitch,” “Blame Canada,” “Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. I Love You),” and more recently “Gay Fish” and “Push (Feelin’ Good On A Wednesday).” In the press release, the show’s creators promised fans that they’d hear some classic South Park songs during the one-night engagement.

The show’s connection with music runs deep and existed before it became a household name. Many a jamband fan is aware and will happily share that before the show’s five Emmy Awards and George Foster Peabody Award, it opened with the same theme song it has today – and that song was penned by no other than Primus. In fact, the man in the striped shirt who welcomes people to “come on down to South Park” is Les Claypool himself.
