Umphrey’s McGee have announced a new LP, Asking For A Friend, due out on July 1 via their own label, Nothing Too Fancy Music. They have also shared the second track off the new album, “Small Strides.”
Following a COVID-19 induced hiatus, the band will release their new album, featuring 14 new tracks evoked by their experiences involving crisis and doubt brought on by the pandemic. The band’s fourteenth studio album was recorded at Boondock, guitarist Jake Crinninger’s studio in Niles, Mich.
Fellow band member and keyboardist Joel Cummins shared, “We are still entrenched in the jam-band scene.” He continued to state that Asking For A Friend “is not a jam-band record. There isn’t improvisation on it, really. There are guitar and keyboard solos. But this is an effort to keep things tight and concise, to get after the essence of what these songs are about.”
