Neil Diamond has sold his publishing and master recordings to Universal Music Group in the latest major catalog deal. The financial details have not been shared with the public.

The deal includes an unreleased album, 110 unreleased tracks, archival video, along with the publishing and masters catalog. Like many deals of this nature, Universal Music Group will now handle any music Diamond makes and releases in the future.

“After nearly a decade in business with UMG, I am thankful for the trust and respect that we have built together, and I feel confident in the knowledge that Lucian, Jody, Bruce, Michelle, and the global team at UMG, will continue to represent my catalog and future releases with the same passion and integrity that have always fueled my career,” Diamond said of the deal in a statement.

Diamond is known for his songs “I Am… I Said,” “America,” “Song Sung Blue,” and most famously “Sweet Caroline,” which has become an American anthem and is sung by thousands in arenas and homes every week, 50 years after its release. Diamond’s publishing catalog holds extra weight as many of his songs have been covered and become hits over the years. He wrote “Red Red Wine,” which was made famous by UB40, and one of his earliest songs, “I’m a Believer,” pushed the Monkees’ careers in 1967 and then 30-some-odd years later Smash Mouth in 2001.

Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, said in a statement, “Neil Diamond is by definition, a truly universal songwriter. His immense songbook and recordings encompass some of the most cherished and enduring songs in music history. Through our existing partnership, we are honored to have earned his trust to become the permanent custodians of his monumental musical legacy.”

Diamond and Universal Music Group’s deal follows a long line of recent catalog acquisitions, including Paul Simon, Bob Dyland, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks.
