The 9th annual Nolafunk Series has announced the return of Voodoo Dead for two nights, April 30 and May 1, at Republic NOLA during the first week of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. 

The Grateful Dead-meets-New Orleans supergroup will feature Steve Kimock, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti of Dead and Company, Al Schnier of moe. and drummer John Kimock. 

New Orleans’ own Papa Mali will sit in as a special guest on April 30, and the Meters’ George Porter Jr. and Duane Betts will join the band on May 1. 

The Nolafunk series will also include performances by Vulfpeck’s Cory Wong on April 29 at Republic. On April 30, Nola Summit II featuring Bonerama Plays Zeppelin, New Orleans Suspects Play Little Feat, Iko Iko All-Stars Play Grateful Dead and more will play at Howlin’ Wolf.

Additional performances include Samantha Fish with Black Joe Louis on May 5 at Howlin’ Wolf. Dead Feat with Anders Osbourne, members of Little Feat and more on May 5 at Republic NOLA. Allman Betts Band, Tab Benoit and Samantha Fish at The Fillmore on May 6, and on May 7 Big Freedia will perform on Republic NOLA with The Suffers. 

Tickets go on sale to the general public for Voodoo Dead’s April 30 and May 1 concerts on Monday, Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. ET.
