David Byrne’s American Utopia has announced its final performances at Broadway’s St. James Theatre will run through Sunday, April 3.
The now-iconic act persevered throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with multiple openings, theaters and casts. The curtain initially rose at the Hudson Theatre in 2019 but was shuttered and set to reopen in 2020. However, it took until September of 2021 until the show once again found its home at the St. James Theatre on West 44th Street.
Each night David Byrne’s American Utopia finds the Talking Heads frontman leading his band through a lifetime-spanning setlist. Though it has altered in the past, the band is made up of Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Mauro Refosco, Stéphane San Juan, Angie Swan and Bobby Wooten III.
