Bob Weir’s four-night run at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center has been postponed. Instead of descending upon the stage on Feb. 9 to 13, 2022, Weir & Wolf Bros will perform their special string of shows with the National Symphony Orchestra on Oct. 5-9, 2022.
Weir, drummer Jay Lane and bassist Don Was are still set to be joined by Jeff Chimenti and The Wolfpack string/horn section (Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling, and Sheldon Brown).
“Out of an abundance of caution, the Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros performances at the @KennedyCenter with the @NatSymphonyDC have been postponed to October 5, 6, 8 and 9. The health, well-being and safety of everyone in our live music community continues to be our priority,” wrote Weir on Instagram. “We thank you for your continued understanding, support and love.”
The official description for the event reads: “Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack join the NSO for a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration. Formed in 2018 by Weir, Grammy-winning producer and bassist Don Was, drummer Jay Lane, and pianist Jeff Chimenti, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros perform the expansive catalogue of Grateful Dead, Bobby’s solo albums, and more. The orchestration is provided by Stanford professor Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti.”
Weir discussed the project in a Relix cover story in 2021.
