The Disco Biscuits closed out their New Year’s Eve run at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pa. last night by performing three jam-filled sets to a packed house.

The show opened with “Rivers” into the tail end of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell.” The set continued with “Munchkin Invasion,” then an inverted performance of “Miracles,” before the band broke back into “Munchkin Invasion” once more before ending the first set with “Voices Insane.”

The second set began with “Spectacle” and continued with “Running Into the Night,” followed by “Anthem.” Next, The Disco Biscuits used“The Great Abyss” to offer a “History of the Disco Biscuits 2.0,” continuing the history lesson they first offered on December 31, 2001.

They recapped almost 20 years of Disco Biscuits history, including a story about a time back in 2010 when they were touring with the band while Jon Gutwillig was injured. (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s Tom Hamilton and RAQ’s Chris Michetti, who augmented the group during that period, joined in via Zoom during that segment of the story) .Then, The Disco Biscuits and company performed a bit of “I Know You Rider” and touched on their history with the Grateful Dead.

The set continued with “Coming Home,” a tune they debuted at the end of that 12/31/01 history lesson and have only performed one other time, at Philadelphia’s The Fillmore on February 2, 2017. The selection was accompanied by a New Year’s countdown and ended with “Helicopter,” which featured the band’s traditional “Happy New Year” lyrics.

The third set started with a homage to the late, great Betty White, who passed away yesterday at 99. The band performed the Golden Girls theme song, “Thank You For Being A Friend,” followed by “Spagna,” “Strobelights and Martinis,” and “I-Man,” before closing out the evening with “Morph Dusseldorf” featuring a “History of the Disco Biscuits 2.0” vocal jam.
