The original motion picture soundtrack for the upcoming documentary Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road is set to be released by Lakeshore Records on Nov. 26. The LP will feature a collection of unreleased music and alternative recordings of Beach Boys favorites.

Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson joined forces with My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James on a collaborative track for the documentary titled “Right Where I Belong,” which was shared today.

The newly released song features the Beach Boys’ signature harmonization melted with gentle guitar and heavy keys. Classic lyrics of teenage fantasy paired with the shake of tambourine send listeners back to the 60s with a sound reminiscent of warm summer days.

The documentary will tell the story of Brian Wilson’s legendary career as he reminisces with longtime friend and editor of Rolling Stone, Jason Fine. Also included in the film is an impressive lineup of interviews with rock royalty, including Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Linda Perry and co-founder of the Beach Boys, Al Jardine.

Last Friday, Brian Wilson released a new LP At My Piano where he stripped down over a dozen Beach Boys tunes, including “God Only Knows” and “California Girls,” to produce solo renditions of the rock staples.
