Guitar virtuoso Jeremiah Lockwood has announced he’ll be releasing a Chanukah record that will likely become a seasonal standard. A Great Miracle: Jeremiah Lockwood’s Guitar Soli Chanukah Record is a solo guitar tribute to the eight nights that give warmth and meaning to many worldwide during the holiday. The album is set to release on Nov. 22 and is issued by Reboot.

A Great Miracle is filled with heartfelt appreciation to the 1968 classic The New Possibility: John Fahey’s Guitar Soli Christmas Record. Lockwood lovingly crafted eight songs, likely one for each night of Chanukah, to celebrate dancing candle-lit evenings with blues-inspired takes of some of the holiday’s classic melodies. Lockwood reimagines both the prayers for lighting the candles and the kids’ songs that are sung around the menorah. He takes the tunes and translates them into blues through his Gibson. He is even accompanied by guitarist and friend Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi All-Stars on his rendition of “Little Dreydl,” a track the two have been performing together since 2011.

Chanukah will be coming early in the season this year, and commence on Nov. 28 and stay illuminated until Dec. 6.
