Last night, Trey Anastasio Band kicked off their tour at Thompson’s Point, in Portland, Maine. Since the last time they hit the road, the group have had some noticeable changes In their lineup.

Founding Trey Anastasio Band bassist Tony Markellis who performed with Anastasio for years and throughout the Beacon Jams, died in April, was replaced by Dezron Douglas. Also notably missing from the stage, was James Casey who recently made a public announcement about his ongoing cancer treatment. He was replaced for the tour by Cochemea Gastelum.

The show was opened with “First Tube” a track that Anastasio used to close the Beacon Jams, setting the feel for an evening flush with Phish songs, fleshed out renditions of Anastasio’s catalog and extended playful jams. The first set closed with “Rise/Come Together.”

The first half of the second set, much like Phish’s summer tour shows, was the highest energy segment of the show. The band started with “Everything’s Right,” which was the longest jam of the evening, into “Gotta Jibboo” > “Curlew’s Call.” They continued playfully with tracks like “The Moma Dance” and “I Never Need You Like This Before.” They closed the second set with “Twist.”

The band encored with “A Life Beyond The Dream” > “Tuesday.”
