Maurice “Mobetta” Brown has announced that he will host a three-week residency at the Black Cat in Francisco. The residency will be a part of the Jazz@theEDGE Festival.

The “Mobetta Sessions” will feature a wide array of artists: Talib Kweli is set to start the event on Sept. 8 and 9, Marcus King will follow on Sept. 10 and 11, and Isaiah Sharkey & Chelsea Baratz will close the first run on Sept. 12. Then, the Free Nationals and India Shawn will get it started on Sept. 15 and 16. But, the shows won’t stop there. Break Science Unplugged will join in on the three-week venture along with Roosevelt Collier and MonoNeon and more.

“The word that comes to mind when I think of Black Cat is passion,” Brown said. “You can tell that a lot of passion, love and thought went into making this special place. I consider Black Cat to be my West Coast home and can’t wait to return with the Mobetta vibes! Over the three-week residency, I will perform shows with my NYC band and will have some of my dear friends join me. It’s gonna be a party every night!”

On Sept. 25, Brown himself will also host a star-studded night slated as a Mobetta + Friends show, which has little details promotionally, but more than enough excitement around it.
