The Beatles have announced a reissue of their 12th and final studio album, Let It Be. The reissue will package the British rock band’s classic 1970 record with previously unreleased session recordings and a mix by Glyn Johns from 1969. It will also include unreleased rehearsals, new mixes by Sam Okell and Giles Martin and studio jams.
Paul McCartney wrote in the foreword of a special edition of the Let It Be book, “I had always thought the original film Let It Be was pretty sad as it dealt with the break-up of our band.” He continued to write, “But the new film shows the camaraderie and love the four of us had between us. It also shows the wonderful times we had together and combined with the newly remastered Let It Be album, stands as a powerful reminder of this time. It’s how I want to remember The Beatles.”
The Beatles reissued Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band for its 50th anniversary in 2017. The White Album was reissued in 2018, and Abbey Road was reissued in 2019.
Peter Jackson’s upcoming documentary on the Beatles titled “The Beatles: Get Back,” will release on Nov. 25-27 through Disney+, as a 3-part 6-hour mini-series.
The reissue of Let it Be will arrive on Oct. 15.
