This Saturday, Aug. 21, New York City will host We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert, a star-studded, free mega-concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park.
Organizers previously teased Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson and Paul Simon as headliners, but now expanded lineup includes a variety of acts: Jon Batiste, Andrea Bocelli, Kane Brown, LL COOL J, Elvis Costello, Lucky Daye, Earth, Wind & Fire, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Cynthia Erivo, Jimmy Fallon, Wyclef Jean, Journey, The Killers, Gayle King, Don Lemon, Barry Manilow, The New York Philharmonic, Polo G, Carlos Santana, Patti Smith, and Rob Thomas.
Said Mayor de Blasio in a statement, “This is going to be a historic, monumental moment for all New Yorkers and all Americans. I’ll put it plainly: You’re going to want to be here. This is truly once in a lifetime and we thank Clive Davis, Live Nation and Danny Meyer for all their efforts to help make this possible,” said Mayor de Blasio in a statement. “This is a celebration of our city, of every working family who faced incredible challenges last year and overcame. This is a celebration for you.”
Gates for the event will open at 3 p.m. EST on Saturday, Aug. 21. The concert will begin at 5 p.m. EST and air live worldwide exclusively on CNN.
“The greatest city in the world is ready to take center stage,” Mayor Bill de Blasio wrote in a tweet. “Join us Aug. 21 for the most epic concert in Central Park history! All you need to be a part of it is a ticket and proof of #COVID19 vaccination.”
