Austin City Limits Music Festival has joined the slew of events to require festival goers to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the start of the festival to be granted entry. The negative COVID-19 test must be printed.
“Patrons who are fully vaccinated may show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination instead of proof of negative test,” planners said. “Please note that vaccination is not required to attend ACL Festival.” They added, “Information related to masks will be released closer to the festival dates.”
Austin City Limits precautions have been declared despite Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order to bar masks and vaccine mandates in the state of Texas. Abbott announced on on Aug. 17 on twitter that he contracted COVID-19 and is currently in isolation. Many school districts, businesses and events in the state have gone against his order.
Texas is currently undergoing a shortage of ICU beds throughout the state, including ICU beds meant for children due to the rise in cases within the state.
COVID-19 precautions have been made by Lollapalooza, Summerfest, Bonnaroo, all Live Nation events and more.
The festival advised fans “If you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccines or need resources to find a vaccination location near you, please check out http://vaccinefinder.org“
