Phish wrapped up their Indiana run on Sunday night, continuing a string of debuts showcasing new, pandemic-era originals.

This time around, it was Mike Gordon’s turn to offer a new tune. “Casual Enlightenment” – which some keen-eared fans recognized as a mystery soundcheck song from their time in Nashville – officially arrived midway through Phish’s first half on Aug. 8.

Phish’s second set, meanwhile, was a head-spinning combination of samples and segues. After “Bathtub Gin”> “Waves,” Phish tossed elements of “Ghost” and “Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley” together to create the mashed-up lyric “I feel I never told you the story of the Sally,” which elicited cheers from the crowd.

Naturally, there were also teases galore. According to Phish.net, “‘Sneakin’ Sally’ contained a ‘Ghost’ quote and a ‘Waves’ tease. ‘Makisupa’ referenced ‘Sally.’ The return to ‘Twist’ contained ‘Twenty Years Later,’ ‘Ghost,’ and ‘Martian Monster’ quotes, ‘Bathtub Gin’ and ‘Makisupa Policeman’ teases and quotes, and ‘Sally’ references. Trey teased ‘Martian Monster’ in ‘Most Events Aren’t Planned.’ The set ending ‘Bathtub Gin’ contained a ‘Ghost’ quote with a ‘Sally’ reference.”

For an extra dose of zany energy, “Contact” acted as the encore, before bleeding into “Slave To The Traffic Light.”
