Guns N’ Roses have released a new single titled “Absurd,” Aug. 6. The single will be available across streaming services at midnight.

The band originally premiered the song during their show at Boston’s Fenway Park on Aug. 3.

“Some of you might have heard this under another name,” Axl Rose said to the crowd that evening. “But this is really kind of absurd for us to try this. Wasn’t that funny? And they don’t even know the joke yet. Ok, this is called ‘Absurd.’”

The “other name” that Rose was referring to is the band’s song “Silk Worm,” which was recorded in 2001 during their Chinese Democracy sessions but was left off the album. Over the years it was passed back and forth it evolved into something new.

This release marks the first track Guns N’ Roses have put out since they reunited in 2016.
