Mike Gordon sat in with Bob Wagner Blues Power at Burlington, VT’s Backside 405 on Friday. The Phish bassist joined the Burlington fixture and his combo for Bobby “Blue” Bland’s classic “Further On Up the Road” and St. Louis Jimmy Ode’s blues standard “Goin’ Down Slow.” Dopapod’s Rob Compa and former Trey Anastasio Band saxophonist/Giant Country Horns staple Dave Grippo, who participated during Gordon’s segment, also sat in during the performance.

Wagner’s combo for the evening included some other familiar faces from the Phish world: TAB drummer Russ Lawton and TAB/Ghosts of the Forest keyboardist Ray Paczkowski. Interestingly, Gordon played “Further On Up the Road” with Lawton at Burlington’s Flynn Theatre on May 17, 1999, one of only two times all the members of Phish have collectively sat in with TAB.

Gordon sat in with Max Creek at Backside 405 last Friday as well.
