Bob Weir was a surprise guest at Terrapin Crossroads on Saturday, May 15, joining Phil Lesh and his Terrapin Allstars for a trio of Grateful Dead favorites, including “West LA Fadeaway,” “Playing in the Band” and “One More Saturday Night.”
This marks Weir’s second surprise collaboration with Lesh in the span of two weeks.
“Another fun set of music at Phil’s place today,” he wrote afterwards via social media.
Previously, Weir jumped onstage at Terrapin Crossroads on May 1 for openers “St. Stephen,” “Uncle John’s Band” and “Shakedown Street.”
The core band on May 15 was made up of Lesh, his son Grahame, Old & In The Way favorite Peter Rowan, Scott Law, Jason Crosby, Dave Zirbel and John Molo.
Keyboardist Holly Bowling and string expert Aaron Redner also swapped in and out for a number of tunes

May 19, 2021 at 7:22 pmBecause Phil is the absolute key to sounding the most like the actual Grateful Dead, if that’s possible. Any band w/o Phil playing this music is a lesser band.
gratefulted

May 17, 2021 at 3:46 pmSaw further a number of times in NY. There was great energy at all of their shows and the Bobby Phil Jeff Chimenti John Kadlicek with Joe Russo was some lineup. Would love to see that again.

BRING BACK FURTHUR
May 17, 2021 at 3:15 pmWas there! Magical. So was 2 nights later in AC where I stumbled my way back to the hotel very drunk and with substances after the show. Happens to all of us…
Bring back Furthur

FURTHUR VETERAN
May 17, 2021 at 2:33 pmFun small venues and old sheds that the GD played way back in the day, reasonable ticket prices before GD50 came along and messed everything up.
Furthur compared to Dead Co is somewhat like pre-Touch GD when compared to the massive late-period GD machine.
I doubt it’s coming back, but those who were there 2009-2013 will never forget!!
BRING BACK FURTHUR
May 17, 2021 at 3:04 pmExactly. Well said. Did 40 shows coast to coast 2010-2013. Never saw the GD but fully understand the eras.
