Phils the Best!
April 24, 2021 at 6:00 amI would pay to watch Phil sit on a park bench! That being said the Family band blows and Ross James is nothing special at all totally standard!

April 24, 2021 at 1:07 pmGoing to have to beg to differ on Ross. As a daily picker myself, Ross is pretty enjoyable live. Music is different to everyone.
Is this the old Philzone?
April 23, 2021 at 6:57 pmNo harsh words may be spoken about Phil, his voice,no Cody jokes etc.lighten up people. Do you really think those musicians in Phil’s incubator have prospered financially? No Phil and Jill keep those shekels gripped tight and leave the crumbs for the youngsters, they always have. I’ve been there and seen every iteration of Phil and friends, these are a step up but I can’t buy into the family band at all.

April 24, 2021 at 8:45 amYOU have been going over Phil’s finances and books for how long and know what he pays out to anybody? The money that the Grateful Dead generated over the years and that none really ended up rich to the level that so many other bands did or have shows none of them really kept the shekels gripped tight. Along with paying their road crew well along with office help. Health insurance and money for their kids schooling. Just think of the number of recordings all appeared on and number of concert dates and what their actual worth is today? None ended up top tier wealthy musicians compared to others.

April 23, 2021 at 5:22 pmI’ve always been a huge phil fan and have made my career working in nursing homes. The fact that anyone at his age can play so well is awesome and super inspiring. Phil has brought Joy to millions and still does while doing what he loves.he embodies the best of humanity and should be emulated and celebrated by everyone.
People trying to upset others on the internet bring nothing to the world and should be forgotten with their malcontent

Next Level Zef!
A different take, but positive
April 23, 2021 at 3:10 pmI haven’t been able to stomach Phil’s live playing for years, BUT I give him absolute respect in removing himself from the larger Dead equation. He did ‘Fare Thee Well’, and that was it! He now plays the equivalent of his local watering hole with his kids and I bet has a blast in a setting with no expectations and no big money/promotion/reputation on the line. Cheers Phil, keep it up. Bobby and the rest of the squad, maybe you should take note.

April 23, 2021 at 2:52 pmI give Phil TONS of credit for playing with these so-called “low tier jamband players” . The musical incubator scene he has created a TxR is to be wildly applauded, IMO. I have seen so much great music in bar-scale venues and am loving it. Thank you, Phil.

April 23, 2021 at 3:40 pmPerfectly said Gary, as are some other posts here on Phil tonight. Don’t feed the trolls, notice how they are first usually to IMMEDIATELY bash whatever the post. It’s so extreme here, and everywhere online. Sad folks.
If a true transcendent miracle occurred and Jerry came back in the flesh reformed the band, had Bruce on Keys and they toured for free……well that would be met with 100 posts in minutes, of how bad they’d be. He’s rusty, he’s probably on heroin again, he missed chord changes, shitty set-list, too short a show, and on and on and on. TXR is an awesome place and yeah I am glad Phil thought up such an idea to perform in relaxed settings, and the Dead-Jam-Band community has never been stronger, and will go on and on and on, thankfully. Don’t like it? Don’t go. Dead and Co. too slow? Don’t go.

April 23, 2021 at 2:50 pmThis cat doesnt know what he is taling about. Krasno and Bowling are top notch players if not extrodanary and with Phil will keep this band moving down the track . Grahame has gotten much better through the years . Should be a tight band. I do however agree PLQ was by far the best Phil band Ive seen all the Phil bands countless times. I do also agree TFB is the weakest of all of the bands but this one should shine this eve.
Phil’s Friend
April 23, 2021 at 2:41 pmSaw TFB 6 times in 2019. I can assure nobody there felt like anything was horrific. Quite the opposite. Grow a pair and try putting some positive energy into the universe maybe.

April 23, 2021 at 2:38 pmBe grateful you can still hear Phil. Do you know how lucky heads are to still see them (at all)?
Go see a different act if so inclined – some of us love the nostalgia and energy of these folks…even on a bad night.
Reality hurts
April 23, 2021 at 2:07 pmNot projecting anything champ, stating a fact. Phil’s lineups have gotten worse and worse since he brought his sons into the fold. Have you seen the terrapin family band? It’s horrific

April 23, 2021 at 2:39 pmPhilRad and the Q beg to differ

April 23, 2021 at 2:44 pmDon’t feed the trolls, please & thank you. Anyone who posts incendiary rhetoric like that is trolling.
Don’t like it, move on. No one is forcing you to go to the show. Stating personal musical preference as objective fact is either ignorance or trolling. No need to yuck anyone’s yum. Keep your negative grandstanding egocentric machismo troll-bait out of our community, champ.
Steve
April 23, 2021 at 2:54 pm“No need to yuck anyone’s yum. ” I like that!
And you’re right. Gotta try to remember.
Hang it up
April 23, 2021 at 12:54 pmWow remember when Phil and Friends wasn’t just a bunch a low teir jamband players? Sco, Warren, Herring, Osbourne, Trucks and the list goes on. Phil’s keeps getting older and the musicians just get worse and worse

April 23, 2021 at 1:18 pmHey Hang,
Do you feel better now. Your projecting is telling.
John
April 23, 2021 at 2:37 pmI’ll bet you’ve never been to Terrapin and have never seen any of these musicians. Your talk is BS.

Never forget that the glass is half empty! Looking at things the other way might lead to positivity !
You may be able to play the role of astute critic, but it’s clear you never made it to the clear simple place where deadheads live and dance with an open heart. Sorry about that. Next time around.

April 23, 2021 at 6:54 pmCouldn’t disagree more! I’ve seen a bunch of Phil shows over the last 10 years and many were awesome!!
Jim
April 24, 2021 at 8:31 amYOU do know hardly anybody is touring, so well known musicians are not going out to Phil’s base of operations for a one time show? YOU do know Phil’s age and probably his lack of wanting to do tours?
James A Littlefield
April 24, 2021 at 11:07 amHave you ever heard Holly Bowling play?
