The Black Keys are giving fans a taste of their forthcoming blues cover album with a music video for John Lee Hooker’s “Crawling Kingsnake.”

The clip was taped at Mississippi’s Blue Front Café, which the band hails as America’s “oldest active juke joint.”

Added The Black Keys’ guitarist Dan Auerbach, “We were honored to play alongside Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton, who are a direct link to R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. This is the Mississippi hill country sound that [drummer] Pat [Carney] and I first bonded over.”

The new record – Delta Kream, out May 14 – will mark the duo’s first release since their 2019 effort Let’s Rock. It will feature interpretations of blues songs form the likes of Hooker, R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and many more.
