Umphrey’s McGee’s Kris Myers has updated fans on why he was absent from this weekend’s show at Suwannee Rising. The drummer revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 “despite taking all precautions.”
“I had to miss Saturday’s show due to a recent positive COVID test despite taking all precautions,” Myers wrote on Instagram. “It serves as a reminder that this virus is extremely contagious and needs to be taken seriously. I encourage everyone to continue getting tested and vaccinated.”
In Myers’ stead, the band invited Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch and Goose’s Ben Atkind to sit in during the set. UM members Jake Cinninger and Andy Farag also provided drum duties during the performance. “Maximum props to Team Umph for putting on a stellar show in my absence,” Myers wrote. “Special thanks to Andy, Jake, and guest sit-ins Adam Deitch and Ben Atkind for taking over the drummer duties like champs. Our bench is deep!”

Myers also noted in his post that he is “excited to join my bandmates and all of you at the ATL Motor Speedway soon.”

April 13, 2021 at 6:12 pmThe media is the virus. All the news does anymore is frighten everyone. As soon as something positive happens the news squashes it like a flaming bag of shit. Yes, covid 19 does exist but if you have common sense and don’t make it political, follow the guidelines, then you can go back to work. If you have underlying health conditions then stay home. The rest of us need to grow some balls and keep moving forward.

April 13, 2021 at 11:00 amThin the herd. Only the strong survive. Open up the fucking country already. People need to get on with their lives then quit hiding in their houses
Common sense
April 13, 2021 at 3:54 amThe beauty of the virus is hopefully over time it’ll kill enough idiots like you that got us here in the first place!

April 13, 2021 at 9:08 amWith a survival rate of 99.6%, its gonna take a lot more than this “beautiful” virus. The vid really only kills the weak among us, such as obese or other underlying conditions, but you already knew that.

April 13, 2021 at 10:53 amYes let’s ignore the growing body of evidence that even those who survive have long term health issues we don’t yet understand.
And yes, let’s say that the people who have underlying conditions are less worthy of living than the rest of us or that their deaths don’t have any impact on those they leave behind.
Let’s also note that even if your stat is correct that still means out of 329 million people that more than 3 million people will die.
Nice attitude, asshat.
