The National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) has announced a batch of special NFTs raising money for beloved concert spaces nationwide.
For the uninformed, an NFT – or non-fungible token – is a collectible, one-of-a-kind piece of digital art that uses block chain technology to track its resale. So, if/when the piece of art is resold, the original producer is automatically entitled to a percentage of that resale price.
Participating venues include 9:30 Club, Bowery Ballroom, EXIT/IN, First Avenue, The Independent, Mohawk, The Metro, Neumos, Tipitina’s, and The Troubadour.
“Starting, Wednesday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. EDT, fans and collectors can place bids to win a series of extremely limited Young & Sick-designed NFT crypto art with a special ‘Golden Ticket’ component, specifically designed for the venue,” reads an official statement. “Each venue’s 1 of 1 NFT piece comes with a “Golden Ticket”, granting them VIP access and exclusive perks to future concerts and events. Additional details for each venue will be available at the auction launch. Many of the venues have never made a ‘Golden Ticket’ available before, so it is a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
