Organizers of the Suwannee Rising Festival have announced a second event in April 2021 – dubbed Suwannee Surprise – with bands like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Twiddle, Galactic, George Porter Jr.’s Runnin Pardners, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and more.
“We were hopeful that music lovers were ready to attend a safe, socially distanced festival, but we truly had no idea how overwhelming the enthusiasm for Suwannee Rising would be,” producer Paul Levine said via press release. “Although I’ve been planning festivals for more than 20 years, Covid has introduced a whole new level of challenges, one being that we have to limit the size of the gathering. We are not able to accommodate additional guests at Rising, but we were able to get creative and book a second show for fans with equally talented artists.”
Suwannee Surprise will take place on April 16-17, in socially distant, drive-in pods in the main entrance field at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fla.
“Everyone will have their own assigned space and will be required to wear a mask anytime outside of their assigned location,” reads the official FAQ. “You are not allowed to leave your assigned space unless using the restroom or visiting the vendors. No mingling outside of your assigned space or within spaces assigned to others.”

March 20, 2021 at 2:09 pmSounds terrible. Why would I want more rules at a music festival than military school? “you will be allowed, won’t be allowed, blabla. No thanks, I’d rather be where I can do what I want and talk to who I want. boo on this shite…for shame

March 20, 2021 at 10:32 amIt’s good to see shows at Suwanee but these pod shows sound a lot like being in jail, although with good entertainment. I’ll wait for real festivals.
