Suwannee Live has announced that the Suwannee Rising music festival will return as a socially distanced event this coming April. The festival will occur at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fla. on Apr. 8-10, 2021. It will be socially-distanced; fans will purchase tickets in pods and will be required to wear masks when not in their pod.

The festival also announced the lineup for the event. Umphrey’s McGee, Lettuce, Goose and Big Something will all perform two sets Meanwhile, the event will also feature Eric Krasno’s Chapter 2, Andy Frasco and the U.N. and more.

“When we cancelled Suwannee Rising 2020, we never imagined the challenges it would present to society and especially the live music industry,” said Suwannee Live’s Paul Levine (via press release). “We viewed the situation with a glass half-full attitude, realistic but hopeful. No one wanted to accept a world without the live music experience.”

“After producing two intimate post-Covid shows at the park and attending other drive-in events, we learned that while no one can eliminate 100% of risk from their lives, it is possible to produce a great show that fans, staff, and artists can attend and still dance and feel safe,” Levine continued. “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our musical community over the last year through the twists and turns of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

According to a press release, the event will be held on two stages that are side-by-side in one of their “vast fields,” which will allow “plenty of space for socially distanced P.O.D.S. (Personal Outdoor Dance Space).” (Quotes via press release.)

According to the festival, “Suwannee Rising 2020/21 ticket holders will have first access to the P.O.D.S. starting today. P.O.D.S. will go on-sale to the general public at 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 3.”
