On the one-year anniversary of his 2/28/20 stop at Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, alt-country star Tyler Childers looked back on the performance with a pro-shot clip of his track “Nose On The Grindstone.”

Certainly, the packed, pre-COVID arena looks foreign to the modern viewer, but Childers’ message still rings true as he sings “Well Daddy, I’ve been tryin’, I just can’t catch a break/ There’s too much in this world that I can’t seem to shake/ But I remember your words, Lord, they bring me the chills/ Keep your nose on the grindstone and out of the pills.”

And while Childers’ touring has been put on ice due to the pandemic, he did share a surprise, socially conscious LP Long Violent History in September 2020, focusing on the ongoing cycle of racial injustice in America and our citizens’ habitual “inability to empathize with another individual’s or group’s plight.”
