Virtuosic bassist Les Claypool has released a new short film, Precious Metals. The five-minute video stars Claypool and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and was directed by Claypool’s son Cage. It is presented EMG Pickups and originally screened at this year’s virtual NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show.

“As a veteran music video director and wannabe filmmaker, it swells my chest with puffy pride to see my son Cage delve into the world of cinematography and excel at it,” says Claypool of the video (via press release). “He blows me away with his skill set, perspective, work ethic and ease of collaboration. That’s my boy!!”

“Presented by EMG Pickups, this Northern California Gold Rush story has a surprise twist you didn’t see coming,” reads the film’s description on YouTube. “Thrills, chills, suspense, and groove that won’t quit. Precious Metals, a 5 star film for the masses.”
