On Sunday evening (Jan. 24), guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer performed the National Anthem prior to the NFL’s AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
Niederauer performed “The Star Spangled Banner” outside of the the host Kansas City’s Arrowhead stadium, in front of a statue of Lamar Hunt. His scorching version of the National Anthem took inspiration from Jimi Hendrix’ famous Woodstock performance, but Taz also added his signature flair.
The Chiefs ultimately won the game, 38-24. They will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 7. The Weeknd will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.
