Neil Young is following in the footsteps of Bob Dylan, selling off a portion of his song catalog for up to nine figures.
In what was presumably a multi-million dollar music rights acquisition, a company called Hipgnosis will now reap in 50% of the income from Young’s 1,180 songs, placing them in film, television and advertising.
This deal comes as a surprise to Young fans, who are used to hearing the rocker stick to his guns politically and socially. As he once sung on “This Note’s for You,” “Ain’t singing for Pepsi/ Ain’t singing for Coke/ I don’t sing for nobody/ Makes me look like a joke.”
Combating these concerts Hipgnosis founder Merck Mercuriadis told The Guardian, “We have a common integrity, ethos and passion born out of a belief in music and these important songs… we will work together to make sure everyone gets to hear them on Neil’s terms.”
Hipgnosis also purchased 100% of Lindsey Buckingham’s catalog this week.
This story is still developing…

January 8, 2021 at 7:17 amWell, who woulda thunk it? Old Neil has his eye on the bottom line just like every other rich fuck, washed up old hippie rock star. We’re only in it for the money indeed.

January 7, 2021 at 9:19 amI guess the good news is the media finally found a mob they disagree with. Enjoy the forthcoming higher taxes, less freedom and more censorship.

January 6, 2021 at 10:00 pmBe quiet down there in my basement. Are you trolling again. You’re 30 years old, get a job. Move out please. And don’t be a racist in my house. And stay off the formerly peaceful and website jambands.com. It’s turned into a troll riddled Russian FOX “News” bitch site. Go back to Lindsey Graham.com and pump him up. Or move to a country that is better, there isn’t one. Snowflake.
ROCKET SCIENTIST
January 6, 2021 at 9:34 pmWell you are not smart. Taking his publishing royalties NOW in the form of (much cheaper) capital gains instead paying ordinary income taxes over the few years given the impending rate hikes and rape of the rich is very, very wise. Any he didn’t sell only the crappy half of the catalog, he sold half the future INCOME from entire catalog, dumb-ass, you need remedial reading comprehension too. Neil’s avoid taxes, moron, not me. And we all need cheaper fuel to put into our cars and trucks to work and earn a living and pay taxes, not to watch it go to terrorist towel heads. I guess you are stupid after all!

January 6, 2021 at 7:15 pmHow do you post your science while storming the Capitol? Pay your taxes be happy you live in a free country. Entitled and misinformed = poor choices. Do you really need to live in a world of cheap fuel? Fuc# Trump and watch the country return to normalcy. Neil probably sold the crap half of his work. Now tell me how stupid I am please.
Rocket Scientist
January 6, 2021 at 6:56 pmYou don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to figure this out. To pay for all these Covid bailouts and upcoming woe-is-me Democratic programs and handouts, taxes are going to go through the roof in the near future, especially on the “rich”. Neil’s no dummy, look for others to do the same very soon. Gas is already up 25 cents a gallon in my hood since the election. Neil made a big stink about coming a US Citizen to vote against Trump but won’t put his money where is mouth is, that is for sure!
