Jim Keller, co-founder of Tommy Tutone and co-writer of “867-5309/Jenny,” has announced a new record, By No Means, which will feature Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo. In addition to the announcement, Keller also shared a new single “Mistakes,” along with a video.

“This track was such a joy to record,” Keller said of the new song. “The groove is so deep and rich thanks to Bob Glaub’s hooky bass part and Michael Urbano’s groove that you can drive a truck on it. You can hear Mitchell’s keyboard parts in the background giving the track a kind of voodoo vibe. Hidalgo’s simple solo section is beautifully understated. Guilt, one of my favorite song topics. A never-ending flow of material coming from that river.”

The new record is due out Feb. 12 and was produced by Mitchell Froom (Randy Newman, Crowded House). In addition to Hidalgo, it also features a rhythm section of Michael Urbano (Todd Rundgren, John Hiatt) and Bob Glaub (Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon). The video was animated by Lewis Klahr.
