Reed Mathis Reed Mathis (Billy & the Kids, Electric Beethoven), Adam MacDougall (Circles Around the Sun, CRB), Wally Ingram (Timbuk 3, Banyan) and John Lovero (The Higgs) are teaming up for a Christmas Eve webcast, during which they will air a previously recorded performance of Grateful Dead covers. The show will air on Dec. 24 at 9 p.m. ET.

The band – then dubbed The West LA Fade Aways – played as part of music journalist (and Relix contributing writer) Benjy Eisen’s socially-distanced Grateful Dead Night (for an audience of 50) in California as part of Jordan Zucker’s ‘Funk the Rona’ concert series. According to a description of the event, “the band felt this performance was too special not to share,” so they decided to air it as a Christmas Eve webcast, rebranded as Join.

According to the description, “the performance features improvisational-heavy takes on classics from the Grateful Dead songbook, as well as a fun little excursion based on a Phish theme. This show is made extra special by the fact that the band members had literally just met each other moments before — there were no advance rehearsals, thereby giving music fans a rare glimpse at a special kind of magic and allowing viewers to witness the moment of inception.”

“In keeping with the intimate vibe of the initial show, there will only be a limited number of “tickets” available for the livestream, which is “pay what you will” (with a $5 recommended minimum donation) via StageIt,” continued the description. “Advance tickets are strongly encouraged as it is likely to ‘sell out.'”
