After the success of Cuttin’ Grass – a bluegrass collection reworking some of his prior compositions – country maverick Sturgill Simpson has surprise-released Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions.

“On Volume 2, we recorded everything I was too afraid to do on Volume 1,” Simpson said via press release. “It’s hard to deny that this is a much more personal record. I was thinking about my kids, my grandfather, my wife.”

Guests on Volume 2 include Sierra Hull, Tim O’Brien, and Stuart Duncan.
